I had to break the Hawaii posts to do Max's ONE year birthday post, seeing as he's about to be 13 months. Our sweet, spoiled baby got to celebrate his birthday in Hawaii. How fun is that?! We realized that this was Max's first time in the United States and not just a territory; maybe the next trip will be to the mainland. Yay!
Max has had a huge growth spurt this month physically and mentally. At his check-up he was weighing in at 29 inches, and was around 19lbs. He's wearing 12 month clothes, size 3 diapers, likes sleeping with the pacifier, has 2 bottom teeth and 3 top teeth.
This month Max has really started to take-off with the sign language we've been using with him. He can sign: more, all done, milk, and food. He's started babbling all the time and always points when he sees Mason. There's an occasionally "ma ma" that's not really directed towards me. He LOVES Theodore and Woodrow.
This boy is on the move. He cruises so fast it is almost like he isn't holding on to the furniture. He walks with his push toy and loves to dance to the music on his standing table. And I've said it before, but this boy is a climber! Nothing gets in his way. At.All. He's taken a couple of steps here and there, but is still working on stability. Since he's a man on the move he doesn't love to be strapped in the shopping cart or stroller for too long. He knows when he's being kept from roaming around and doesn't want to have it.
I joke that he's my little Guam turtle always trying to make his way back to the sea. Anytime we're at the beach he just loves to crawl into the water and whenever someone is in the bathtub, he wants to be right there too.
Max still wakes up frequently, so hopefully once we've made the full transition to less bottles and more meals with milk he'll feel full and sleep, sleep, sleep. He does seem to be a good eater, although definitely has phases like his brother.
For his first birthday he got to try a cupcake (he wasn't that interested) and play in Hawaii all day. We traveled from Oahu to the Big Island that day and so he got to explore around and had no idea what was going on. Ha! He did have lots of fun opening some presents from GG when we got home and he loves to play with his stackable blocks.
I have a hard time believing that he is ONE! The time just goes so quickly and I want to capture the youth and child laughter of my boys and bottle it up forever. Maximus, you are so loved my dear.
