So behind on many postings, but I'm trying to catch up!
Woodrow, Woodrow, Woodrow, our sweet little guy. This month has been all about movement for this little dude. I remember when Theo was little, Mason was so excited for him to start moving, and this time around, Mason said to Woodrow, don't move and also that he felt like there was such a small window of time when Woodrow just laid there and did nothing. Woodrow worked really hard on his rolling skills this month, and can easily get anywhere he wants to be by rolling around the room. I had that "oh crap, where's the baby" moment a few times. Where I'd put him down in one spot and then come back a few minutes later and he'd be somewhere else completely. Of course this is extra "fun" making sure no little or edible toys are near him, anywhere; since of course that's what he finds first and EVERYTHING goes in his mouth.
Sweet boy is also sitting up! One of the things I think that Mason is so great about is that he really plays with the kids in different ways. He exercises their little bodies when he's holding them, he practices having them stand when they're little, etc...so I keep having to tell myself while he's gone, that no one else is going to get these kiddos to do things differently unless I do it. So, I have to remember that Woodrow wouldn't learn to sit unless I started giving him opportunities to do so, and one day it clicked and it was like he could sit. He still topples over now and then, but by the end month he was pretty much able to wiggle down into a laying down position.
He also LOVES his jumper. Since he's still a little bit of a spitter-upper, I have to time her jumper/bouncing time just right. Far enough from eating time so that he doesn't spit up everywhere, but also paying attention if he starts getting fussy in there because for awhile he would always poop in there and of course it would shoot up the back-yuck! Now he's really got a hang of the bouncing and just likes to hang out in there.
At the very end of month 7 he was able to get onto all fours and has started to rock on his hands and knees. This is exciting because Theo started with the army crawl, so it's funny to see how he's just figured this out. I catch him on the video monitor practicing in his cozy bed, which is pretty cute. Before long, he'll be crawling.
I switched him out into the size 6 clothing, and packed away all the newborn-3 month clothes. I had them in the closet set aside, but now they are officially packed up. Which is pretty sad. Hopefully they aren't away forever...but I'm not allowed to mention any more little ones yet. :) He's still wearing size 2 diapers too. He's definitely lengthening out-I notice this the most when he's sitting in our little inclined chair or when he's sprawled out in bed.
Woodrow sleeps about 12-14 hours a night and averaged a 2.5-4 hour nap in the afternoons. He doesn't sleep as much in the mornings, but will cat nap here and there if we're in the car. I do notice that Woodrow likes his bed or carseat to fall asleep in, whereas Theo would fall asleep anywhere. He would fall asleep in the carrier when I would wear him, just holding him, or in the different contraptions we have (swing, chairs). Perhaps Woodrow doesn't because there's a big brother bouncing around, or basically because he doesn't have a morning nap time. He's a mover and a shaker. Always wants to be in on the action, so I've been trying to soak up my snuggles after he nurses and he falls asleep before naps and bedtime.
Woodrow is still nursing-yay us-and will take a bottle much better when I have that for him. He still uses the smallest size bottle nipple, and drinks 4 oz. at a time when bottle fed. He doesn't hold it very well, which Theo did from a pretty young age, but he had the bottle 100% of the time. Both deep freezers are full of breast milk, so I'm going to continue to nurse him while we are on vacation the next two months and then ween in June. It's kinda crazy, I didn't think I'd nurse so long, so I'm actually kinda of hesitant to stop, but I don't want to bring a pump out to Weapons School graduation, so I think it will be the right choice. I've been trying to give Woodrow different baby foods. He does not like rice cereal or oatmeal, although I may try flavored oatmeal, and so far likes the different foods he's had, although he's not that in to peas and green beans are hit or miss. I need to be more consistent, which would be easier if it didn't require a full bath after each feeding session...the whole dining room needs to be washed down after this food monster eats.
Looking forward to all the new adventures we have ahead in the next few months with our sweet boy!
Theo also loves that he gets stickers at the end of class! The kid seriously enjoys his stickers. Woodrow isn't as content anymore to sit in the stroller for the whole class. In the beginning he was just taking a nap, but now that he can move, he wants to be up and about, which doesn't make a super Zen-like state for me, but the teacher says he can keep coming to class. The past two weeks I've eventually let him get out and roll around on my mat while Theo and I do the poses on his mat. We'll be taking a break in April and May, but I hope that the class is still offered in the summer and the Fall, because we really enjoy going!
