Daddy was away, so what did we do? PLAY!

When I finished school, Theo stayed in daycare part time the remainder of that week, and then Mason's dad and grandma came for a wonderful visit.  Shortly after that Mason went out on a TDY assignment to Nellis AFB, outside of Las Vegas. (I'll let him write more about that later).  So this was really the first opportunity for Theo and I to enjoy summer vacation and my new stay-at-home mommy time.  We had a blast!  Theo definitely missed his Daddy and I missed Mason lots, but was not bored at all.  This was the first time that Mason had been gone since Theo's been born, so it was a new experience for all of us.  I quickly slipped back in to the habit of putting Theo to bed at 9pm, and went on to eat dinner, watch tv, and spending hours reading Fifty Shades of Grey, and Fifty Shades Darker (I'm holding #3 for vacation)!

Anyways....some of the activities (many of them firsts for me) we did included:

Blueberry picking with friends

Pool time with friends, and by ourselves

Baby Sign/Playgroup

A visit to Sciport with a different playgroup

Visits to the Farmer's Market

Newks/Orange Leaf with friends from the squadron

Mexican dinner and Geauxicles with a former co-worker friend

Walks

 Snuggles & Naps

Backyard play dates with neighbors

The Green Bean Saga

My child does not like green beans. I'm writing this because I need to be embedding it into my brain that he just. doesn't. like them.  I got that in my head with peas (the spewed, regurgitated peas helped with that one).  Maybe it's because he'll eat a few bites of green beans, and then a few more if I mix them with milk and/or cereal.  Inevitably, after the few bites, sealed lips, and head turns...I get up and give him a different food, that I know he likes and he CHOWS down.  And EVERY-TIME I think, why am I trying to give him green beans when he CLEARLY demonstrates that they are not a food he wants to eat.

Okay Theo...you win...I will not try to give you any more green beans...at least not for a while.

Wish I had captured his green bean face on camera- it's pretty clear that green beans = torture to Theo.

Ahhh Summer!

Memorial Day weekend + Family in town + Mason having days off work = Wonderful Meals

We had a Mexican night with homemade Salsa, Guacamole, Chicken Chile Lasagna, and Cinnamon Tortilla Crisps.

Another Night was Wannabe P.F. Changs Mongolian Beef with Potstickers and Rice.

And of course, a big BBQ with Ribs, Corn on the Cob, Baked Potatoes, and Watermelon!  I can't believe I only got pictures of this meal- they were all so yummy!
