Each of our boys is an incredible blessing and miracle I don’t take for granted. They’re each so different and yet so similar. After Woodrow was born I knew our family just didn’t feel complete. Lots of prayer went into this baby. Not to say the others weren’t loved deeply and prayed for, I didn’t know if we’d have a third baby and yet, here’s our sweet Maximus turning two.
Maximus was born in Guam and I think that will help him lead a life that’s relaxed yet adventurous. He spent his first birthday in Hawaii and got to meet my parents and sister for the first time. For his second birthday, we celebrated in Tennessee where he met Mason’s Dad and grandma for the first time. He’s seen so many places on this Earth in his short two years on Earth and I hope he’ll see millions more in his lifetime.
Maximus is the best littlest brother to Theo and Woodrow. They just adore him and he adores them. Recently Maximus started taking roll call during the day. He’ll walk around and say, “dada, mama, thee-doe, wuh-doe”. He’ll watch out the window for Mason to come home from work and “the boys/brothers” to come home from school. Sometimes I’ll ask him, “where are the brothers?” And he’s morphed that into “Woodrows?” He gets a little bonus time with Woodrow in the mornings while Theo’s off at school, before Woodrow goes to kindergarten. We joke he’s following in Woodrow’s feisty ways.
Maximus is such a friendly guy and often waves to people when we’re out and about. He’ll give hugs and kisses, and doesn’t get too shy when meeting new people or family...but he keeps track of where mom, Dad, and the brothers are for sure.
Max is now in size 2T clothes, size 4 diapers (5 at night) and loves to put on his shoes and socks. For a long time he only wanted his flip flops. But now he likes to put on shoes and socks all the time. He’s pretty tall and probably about 25lbs. When he wore long sleeves for the first time he kept trying to push them up- sweet Guam boy- this is Fall in IL.
Our mighty Max is strong! He’ll often do dead hangs off of anything and he is a climber. We need to bolt things down. He likes to climb on the dresser or table and then reach his arms out, say GO, and leap into our arms. Ha! Max is a pretty good eater. He likes whole milk, juice, fruit, noodles, treats, and sadly he recognizes “nah-nolds.”
Maximus really likes dogs and asks to “touch” when he sees them. His new phrase is “what’s this?” If he doesn’t know something or he’ll point and say this/that if he wants something. He like doing anything his brothers are doing. He has really gotten into playing with trains, cars, and our little diggers. We just moved some more toys into his room and he’s been liking that.
Max is still napping- thank you!!! And does a good job at night too. He sleeps with his duck blankie and pacis, although those are about to disappear. He started escaping from his crib a few months ago, but we lowered the crib and turned the crib around so the higher side faces out. He can still climb out, but does it less. I’m afraid this will be the end of naps and good sleep like we experienced with Woodrow.
Maximus is a joy. He keeps us laughing and is empathetic to the moss’s of the household. Happy second birthday baby love!
