Theo at 15 months

Theo won't have his 15 month checkup until after the New Year, so I don't have any height/weight stats just yet, but he's getting taller and a little heavier!  Mostly taller, because he's getting into many more things and places.  He's now in size 4 diapers and wearing 12-18 month clothes.   

This month there wasn't a whole lot new- no major milestones like last months walking; however, Theo has definitely improved walking and can get around really quickly!  He's not quite running yet, but he's got a quick little trot.  We started letting him walk in from the car to the house (which is helpful when I have my hands full), but the other day he broke the circle of trust and made a quick 180 into the street.  Don't worry, I never let him down when cars are near- I know not to trust him yet...

Some cute little things that he's picked up on this month were using his mouth to blow.  He picked up on this after we were giving him food that was pretty warm and we'd blow on it to cool it off.  So now he likes to blow on his food- he knows mostly what's hot and what's cold, and doesn't spend too much time blowing cold items.  He occasionally gets a whistle out which he things is pretty funny, although we can't get him to just whistle on his own.  He will also sniff things now.  Primarily the Christmas Tree, which is small and up on an end table, but is just the right height for for his little nose to sniff the branches.

The weather here has been colder, so I'll admit we haven't been playing outside as much as we normally do, but Mason's been good about taking Theo out on short walks around the house while I'm getting things done around the house.  We were all knocked out with a cold for a few days, which sucked, but fortunately we were all able to sleep a lot which was nice!

Aunt Jill came to visit right before Christmas, which was a lot of fun for Theo (and us)!  Theo loves visitors and so to have visitors two months in a row, he was a happy boy.  Mason's on leave until next Friday, so he's gotten really spoiled with family visiting and having Daddy home...he's going to be really bored when it's just back to me and him!

His favorite foods are definitely nannys (bananas).  He'd eat them all day long if we'd let hm.  He's expanding his tastes a little and allowing me to give him fruit cocktail and applesauce which he wouldn't eat before.  It's nice because fresh fruit just doesn't look so great these days or you pay an arm and a leg for it, so I'm glad he started eating the canned fruit, at least just for winter.  He really likes pesto and Chinese food, and refried beans as well, so he's learning to like a variety of foods from various cultures.  :)

The biggest thing we've been focusing on are animal sounds and body parts.  He's really good with the animals, and added the oink oink, and quack, quack, this month.  Today he pointed to his nose and ears when asked, but it may have been a fluke, so stay tuned to see if that's actually been mastered.

Mason submitted a package for an annual award and one of the new requirements they wanted him to have was an official AF photo.  They later decided that he didn't really need to submit it, but he thought it would be a good idea to have one anyways. 

At our squadron Christmas Party, the Squadron Commander and Command Spouse presented me with the 2012 Spouse of the Year award for the 20th Bomb Squadron, and now I'm being submitted for the next level of the competition.  So, since the award package that has to get turned in, is very similar to how Mason has to write his packages, I also needed a photo.

Theo didn't get a fancy photo, yet.  But so far, he wins sweetest baby award! 

Theo at 14 months

What a strong spirit our little man has!  Theo is such a wonderful little boy, and this month he has truly been showing his independent little self-which is mostly cute, with a little annoyances (for mom and dad) here and there.

Height:  ~32 inches (just a little bit taller where he can reach some new surfaces and discover a few more things to get him in to trouble)

Weight:  ~22 lbs.

The major milestone that Theo reached this month was WALKING!  Hooray for Theo.  He's still my baby, but I guess he is toddling around now.  He's still faster crawling, and he hasn't started running yet, but it's amazing how much progress he makes each day by just taking a few more steps here and there.  Theo started by cruising faster and faster along the furniture, and then eventually took those first few steps (which took forever to be able to capture on film) and then we started with pass the baby and he'd go between the couch and coffee table, and now he's able to stand from a seated position without holding on to something else and walk around .

Along with walking and a little added height Theo's been able to climb on to objects a little more easily.  Mostly the coffee table, and he's been working on getting on to one of our couches, which he likes to bounce up and down on.  :)  This year's Christmas decor is all above his height or plastic so we don't care if he plays with it since he can reach quite a few more spaces.

Mason showed him how to slide backwards (on his tummy) down the slide and Theo got to perfect this when my parents were in town and Theo was getting to go to the park 2+ times a day!  He's enjoying the park more and more, but he likes to crawl into the grass and play in the leaves, or play with the wood chips.

Sleeping: This month Theo had a few days where he decided not to nap or he would take a really short nap.  Not really sure why, sometimes he was just not tired, others I think teething is to blame, but for the most part he's still sleeping well at night, and has been back to his naps for the most part.  He's not drinking a big sippy cup right at bedtime as much, so there's less snuggle time, and Mason is definitely the preferred parent to lay him down to sleep.  Theo's love for Mason is so sweet right now, although  sometimes hard to see when Mason has to go to work after lunch and Theo's crying for his daddy.

Eating:  Bananas!  This kid has been eating his weight in bananas-daily!  He's finally been tapering off, because he's either too plugged up or he just got tired of them, but we had to start hiding them in the kitchen because all he wanted to eat were "nannys."  He's also been eating yogurt and FRESH fruit frequently.  I make the note of fresh fruit, because he was really enjoying the canned mandarin oranges and peaches (which aren't really in season), but now he just wants fresh...He's also still getting breast milk from our frozen supply, but he's not drinking that as much these days either.

Talking:  Theo is talking/babbling more and more and really has added a lot of words to his vocabulary.  Da-da has turned more into daddy in reference to Mason and ma ma has been making more of an appearance lately.  Theo would call my dad, da-da, but there was definitely a difference in how he was referring to him and Mason.  We've been working on the "G" sound for grandpa and gram/grandma.  Theo can say mow (moo), woof woof, cack-cack (quack), cacka (cracker), uh-oh, naw-naw-naw (no-no-no), daw-gi (doggie), off, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.  He's really into dogs, so it's funny to see him look for all the neighbors dogs outside and say woof woof as we go from fence to fence.

Playing:  Peek a Boo is back and going stronger than ever.  Theo loves that game right now.  He's especially cute because he hides by putting his hands in fists and covering his eyes, with the finger sides out.  He'll also just duck behind objects and pop out, which is so funny!  We've been working on stacking blocks, and he's been doing pretty well.  Since the temperatures have been in the 70s here I'm going to let him play with paint one day, I just haven't decided when.  He's in to his little people and likes to put them all on the bus or all on the train and then drive them around.  He also likes to line them up on the window sill at times.

He's been asserting a little attitude sometimes and is so determined.  If we tell him no, he wants to conquer whatever we've told him he can't have... he'll then thrown a little "tantrum"
 which is usually him crying for 5 seconds and laying on the ground in a little ball...it's more cute than anything, and we mostly just walk away and he's fine- or grab the camera since it's a little funny, but I'm hoping it's not a sign of crazier things to come in the future from his spirited self!  What a sweet boy!  Looking forward to the next set of tricks he'll throw our way!


(I guess I'll have to go back and add photos- it's telling me I'm over quota...)  Grrrr...
