Easter was extremely low key for us this year. The kids aren't really super aware of what the Easter holiday is all about and after weeks of Theo asking about Valentine's Day, I learned that holidays can be brought up like the week of...otherwise he's going to ask every.day. if it's that holiday yet. So, anyways...the night before I decided to hide a few eggs (filled with M&Ms and goldfish) and the kids had fun finding them the next afternoon, but it was definitely relaxed.
The zoo opened up for the first time so we all went to check it out, even though we knew it would probably be crowded. It wasn't too bad and Theo got up the nerve to high-five the Easter bunny. He likes to see characters dressed up, and wants to talk to them, but then when we get to the front of the line, he's usually backing away.
He also wanted to "hunt" for eggs. The zoo had this pretty well planned out and had certain zones, at certain times for the kids to pick-up eggs. I waited with Theo while Mason and Woodrow went exploring. As soon as they said "go" Theo ran and picked up two eggs, got terrified, and said, "these are dirty eggs" and put them back on the ground and was done with that.
The kids really just prefer to check out the animals at the zoo. Since it was cold, there weren't as many animals out as there are now, but it was still an enjoyable afternoon. For dinner we went to a friends house and had a great potluck with friends!
