"You are my sunshine, my online sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away."
I sang this song countless times over Woodrow's crib and while rocking him when he was a baby. It doesn't seem like it was five years ago. Tomorrow morning, Woodrow officially will be five years old. This boy is fierce. He challenges us daily. I pull out the parenting books for this guy. I thought if we survived three year old Woodrow the rest would be cake. Four brought some some smoother waters, and I pray five is a glorious year for Woodrow.
This past year Woodrow has grown so incredibly much. Physically he's lost a lot of the "baby" look, he's gotten taller, his mannerisms make us laugh all the time. When he's concentrating he always has his tongue sticking out. He's mister tough guy, but needs lots of cuddles and snuggles too. Woodrow is incredibly athletic. He is a fast runner, he can throw a ball with so much force, and he picks things up quickly.
Woodrow has broken out of his shy shell quite a bit this past year, but still gets nervous and quiet around people he doesn't know very well. He completed Pre-K in Guam at Andersen Elementary School and learned so much. He warmed up to the teacher and aide, he knows his letters, letter sounds, numbers, he can cut, match, make patterns, rhyme, and he's a groovy dancer. He's got pretty good dance moves if you can catch him jammin'.
Woodrow likes playing with Theo and Max, and he also likes to wrestle them too. Watch out if you mess with Woodrow's special toys. While Woodrow is definitely still an airplane guy, he's gotten into animals quite a bit (currently Bald Eagles are his favorite sky animal, Rhinos his favorite land animal, and Great White Sharks are his favorite ocean animal). So, we've been grabbing lots of non-fiction from the library. He's also into Star Wars and legos. He is always playing with his Star Wars mini figure legos.
Woodrow is often seen around the house with his airplane blanket, curled up playing. He's gotten into the ipad lego games and he's great at UNO. His favorite foods are peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly), pizza, McDonalds (cheeseburgers-PLAIN), french toast sticks, yogurt gogurt, and strawberries. He's our late night party dude and he just talks seriously about so many things.
Here's to FIVE Woodrow! I love you to pieces!!!
