I've been wanting to do a blog update on our big kid the past few months, and finally am getting around to it. Theo turned 2.5 the end of March and is just an awesome little dude! He tells me, he's a "kid" and not a baby, so that's pretty cute. Where to even start with this little guy...
Theo's 26-29lbs depending on how many hot dogs or peanut butter sandwiches he's consumed. He's about 3ish feet tall, but I'm not really sure on that one. Poor guy went through an awkward stage with his clothes. He is in 2T now, but of course, not all fit the same, some days his pants are falling down because his waist is so skinny, but they're highwaters since he's tall. We finally got some pairs of pants that look normal on him and then his shirt sleeves started to be 3/4 length...oy! I think we've got things on track; and once it warms up in Minot, in another few months, I'll be happy when he can wear t-shirts and shorts all day.
Back in December we decided to go full-ahead with potty training. Theo's been wearing underwear during the day since then and pull-ups at night. He's done really, really well. He has an occasional accident now and then, but most of the time he does a great job! I'm so proud of him. We started giving rewards for every time he just sat on the potty, and stickers, and then we moved on to treats just when he actually went potty. Eventually the treats weren't that important to him and we moved on to a sticker a day on the calendar for every no-accident day. He went over a month with a dry pull-up at night, but when he got sick he started sleeping with a water bottle at night since he was waking up crying for water. Now he's dry most nights, but I'm not totally ready to ditch the pull-ups. So proud of him!
Theo has had some rough sleeping patches in the past several months, but we got a sleep clock that you can set a "wake-up" time on when a moon changes into a sun. It has a morning function and afer nap function, and most of the time he's really good about staying in his bed until the sun comes up. he sleeps 11-12 hours at night and naps 2-3 hours. Theo likes to have his bedtime routine which involves bath, reading books, and talking about our day. He sleeps with his Daddy doll and Robert his special bear every night. Robert is a really special guy for him and Theo just loves him.
While Theo will tell you he's shy and hid behind me when meeting new people, once he opens up, he'll talk your ear off. He's a really chatty guy, and says some of the funniest phrases and things. He picks up on words really quickly and it's just a blast-although I have to be careful what I say. The knows all the capital lettters, and numbers 0-10. He can sing most of the ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle..., Row your boat and a few other songs. He LOVES to read books and discuss different story aspects. His favorite TV show is Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and he's totally in to playing with trains and puzzles.
Theo's struggled with Mason being gone since they are best buddies, but likes to Skype with him as well. He loves sending Mason letters, drawing pictures, and making him videos. Mason will send him videos too, which is so cute. Looking forward to those two reuniting, because Theo just really wants his daddy home.
Theo is becoming the sweetest big brother. He loves Woodrow so much, and now he talks to him, and plays with him really nicely. They even friendly wrestle sometimes and have started taking baths together.
Theo enjoyed our yoga classes and I'm hoping to sign him up for tumbling and swim classes in the Fall. Theo is just such a special boy and I love him to pieces. He's enjoying all the attention of being at Gram and Grandpa's house right now, and we love having our special mommy and Theo snuggles.
