The Real Life of Ellen & Mason: Theo at 10 Months

On his toes, just like his Daddy

Theo has been a busy little man this month, and working on quite a few new tricks. This month Theo had perfected the art of crawling on all fours, pulling-up onto just about anything that has a little bit of a ledge or handle (things that are flat like the refrigerator are still hard), getting down from those positions without clobbering his face, cruising along the coffee table, and increasing his vocabulary. He can now (selectively) do "SOOOO BIG" and says, ma-ma, da-da, ba-ba, ga-ga, and has a decent version of uh-oh, all done, and dog...of course whenever I try to capture that on film he doesn't want to perform.

Theo is liking baby yogurt more, wheat bread, and just tonight had some small bits of chicken. We're also working on transitioning him to the sippy cup and off of the bottle, but the sippy cup is a little messier- so it's hard to let go of the neat bottle (from my perspective). He is still weighing about 181/2-19lbs and seems to get taller daily.

Helping Mommy with the Dishes

Theo had his first haircut this month since his hair was growing in down past his ears and getting long in back. Mason trimmed a bit in his "bangs" too, because, "we don't want a Beiber in the house." We've had lots of playdates and time to go to the pool. We've been enjoying trips to the base library and we even got to go to Daddy's work for 10 minutes one day- so many Daddy look alikes with all those green bean suits and patches!

Theo LOVES to read. We decided to put away the pack-n-play because he usually sleeps in his crib for naps and bedtime and he really was too big to get changed on it anymore. This gave us some extra room in our side room, so we reorganized and put his toys and board books in bins on the floor that he can easily access. If he's not playing with one of the noise toys, or a ball...he is most likely sitting and going through all of his books. It's cute to watch him "reading." He also spends 45 minutes to an hour in his hanging door jumper sometimes. We have to be more mindful of the time he spends in there, otherwise he's going to end up with scrambled brains-he jumps so much.

Now that he is doing more moving we have to constantly watch stairs, chords, plugs, breakables, and just about everything. We keep moving things up to the next height level and he keeps pulling up higher and higher. He understands what "no" means, and gives that cute devilish grin as he's about to head towards something he isn't supposed to get into. Too smart for his own good.
