We split the drive from Jasper to Minot up into two days. We drove from Jasper to Saskatoon, SK the first day (about 10 hours), and from Saskatoon to Minot the second day (about 7 hours). These were LONG days! Everyone's moods were fine, it just would have been nice to teleport home. We only had about two hours of mountain driving before we were into the plains of Canada. The kids did lots of sleeping, watching shows, and eating snacks. Fortunately we had discovered Tim Horton's doughnuts...yum! Our car hit 100,000 miles on the last day, which was pretty cool and we're thankful for our Highlander continuing to be an awesome car.
Our hotel in Saskatoon did not really impress me. We had a long wait at the desk to check-in (the person just wasn't there) and then the room was smelly. We were hoping to take a quick swim, but the pool closed at 10 and we were there about 9:30pm. This was our only lodging that didn't have a pack n play for Woodrow, and while we did have one, we decided to try out the sofa sleeper for the night so we didn't have to dig out the pack n play from our car. This reaffirmed (to Mason) that we will be keeping Woodrow in his crib until he's escaping from it or goes to high school. It was a long night of getting kids to fall asleep and stay in their beds. When I woke up in the morning, there was Woodrow snuggled up with Mason in our bed. Not a great night of sleep.
When we got home the next day the kids were so excited to see their toys and everything, and we unpacked and got everything put away! Woohoo! Despite the complaints along the way, we had a really great time...but we're ready for an adult vacation!
